Sending Out An S.O.S. To All Shop Owners !

So..... I need your advice, or encourage-
ment,or both !
I opened my new shop just one month
ago and by week 3 I was amazed by my
sales. I've really been enjoying it ...
that is until the cold snap hit here
on Sunday which is usually pretty
busy. I had a few people wander in
but not one sale. Then ..... the
downpours started and my parking
lot became a lake today! I had one
customer and one small sale. Two
more days of downpours are expected.
I'm trying to stick out the very long
wet days because I want to stick to
the hours I set. It's been a bit
depressing .
It's making me second guess myself.
There is tons of traffic just whizzing
by my shop and nobody stopping.
I've kept busy with cleaning, arranging,
reading,paperwork & phone calls
and being crafty.
So ...... what do all you ladies who
have your own shops do
about this ???
I don't expect every day to be
grand sales but I wasn't thinking that
I would be sitting alone in my shop for
days because of the weather.
Yuck !

Sorry - I don't have any advice. Just want to wish you success in your business. How long is the rainy season?

oh so sorry SUZEEEE
But the rain will do that-- maybe you could put some
'''''''fabulous eye catcher'''''
in the window with some beautiful light shining on it and some of those big fat battery candles--on a small round side table with lots of layered lace tableclothes on it~ make it really unresistable(:) Music playing and good smells are a must too~

Suz,
It's the same here. I use my time the same way you do! And I make sure there are lots of lights lit in the window to create a cheerful vignette from outside. I also have 2 small banners that wave in the crazy wind outside. It will pass so hang in there and consider this prep time for when the hordes of customers arrive.

Oh Suzeee I can so relate....when I had my shop there was nothing worse than a dead day...but never fear they get better and it all becomes worth it when you're so busy you can't believe 7 hours have gone by and it's time to go home. I used to just arrange and re-arrange I think the busy energy you put out brings the energy into the store and before you know it you'll be back on track!

Hi sweetie...

All I can say is "welcome to retail"! :) Not to fear...there will be good days and not so good, but don't give up. It takes at least 2 years to truly start seeing daylight at the end of the tunnel. Use the time that you are there creating---will take your mind off who is walking in and who is not! If you ever need to talk just let me know---I have been in this business a LOOOOOng time and am here to help encourage you-yet give the truth and not hide anything.

Keep on the path my friend---xo...deb
